San Luis Obispo located roughly midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on the Central Coast. The population is about 45,000. It is a clean and safe feeling city. It is also home to Cal Poly. With the combine university influence and the proximity to the coast, this city has impressed us a lot.
Denise did some research and found that the city has a weekly farmers market on Thursdays. The reviews were great and she commented that this is something that we need to do What was interesting is that the market hours were from 6 to 9 at night. The city goes ‘all-out’ for this event with blocking off about 10 blocks downtown for market, food vendors and live music. When we got there, the live music was happening about every other block, local restaurants were cooking on the street, the smell was fantastic, and there was also the farmers market. No alcohol or smoking was allowed (California law). There must have been a couple of thousand people, maybe more, with young kids and grand-parents, all enjoying a spring night with food and entertainment. Some families were costumed-up as super hero’s. It was truly a night on the town for the family. It was great!
