By 9am it had warmed up nicely, clear skies with a hefty breeze from the east off the Atlantic. I took my bike for a little exploring of Sandbridge.
Our campground, Virginia Beach Outdoor Resorts, is located at the bottom end of the Sandbridge strand. One side of the strand is the Atlantic and the other is Back Bay. The strand is at most half mile wide. I explored everywhere. The whole strand has nothing but vacation beach houses and a few private residence on the north end. I would guess the strand is about 5 miles long.
In the afternoon, we took a short 30 minute drive north to Virginia Beach where we learned that a ‘Beach Music’ weekend event was happening. We expected the traffic to be bad but people were just rude. I seen several instances of people cutting people off what appeared to be intentional. Parking was frustrating, it was hot and humid, crowded everywhere but the experience was great. Denise found a nice grassy shady spot right along the boardwalk next to the band stand. We unfolded our camping chairs and enjoyed the afternoon listening to music and doing a lot of people watching.
