We left the Duluth/Lake Superior area around 11am. That was check out time at our campground. Our destination was Two Rivers, Wisconsin. It’s about 40 miles south of Green Bay on Lake Michigan. A 400 mile plus trip, so we broke it up into two days, spending a night at a Walmart in Merrill, Wi. A hard surface bike trail followed us most of the way through many lakes and forest. Since it was Sunday, towns and villages along the way were busy with activity. All we could do was say “WOW” as we drove through. As Denise put’s it, Wisconsin has a wholesomeness that feels good!
We are now on Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan at Two Rivers. It used to be the biggest commercial fishing harbor in the state until the Zebra Mussel devastated the fish population back in the 60’s. Now there is only one boat that commercial fishes from this harbor. The rest of the harbor front is Roger’s Street Fishing Village museum which we visited. We learned that Two Rivers built the first-ever marine engine, invented the ice cream sundae and developed the first automatic clothes dryer.
Our RV park is located about 2 miles from Two Rivers. There is a lakeside walking/bike trail called the Mariners Trail that we have enjoyed walking. It runs from Two Rivers to Manitowoc, about 7 miles long. The trail is one long flower garden! Yesterday morning was in the 70’s, clear and a good day for a walk. We walked the 2 miles into Two Rivers and had a hearty breakfast at Water’s Edge Restaurant. A hometown type of place with lot’s of character and the food was worthy of mentioning, it was excellent!
Great glass art! Where is the beer pic?
Richard, it’s hard to hold a glass and a camera at the same time….
