Our travel north has rewarded us with much milder climate. For the high here in Vermont, it has been in the upper 70’s to low 80’s. One morning, Denise even turned the heater on for a few minutes, it was 59 degF.
This is our first visit to the state. Vermont has been very impressive. It is probably the most beautiful state that we have visited yet! Everywhere we have wandered, the scenic views and the quaintness of the homes and villages are breathtaking. The town and villages are made up of locally owned businesses and there are NO big name stores around that we have found.
Vermont is know as the Green Mountain State and also for it’s covered wood bridges. It didn’t takes us long to find several covered wooden bridges within the Woodstock area.
There are also many small family farms in the area that have huge gardens and sell at the local farmers markets. Saturday we went to the local market and we found plenty of local produce, meat, maple syrup, eggs and cheese. I grilled the sweet corn and my-my was it tasty!
Woodstock is a quaint town with well preserved vintage homes and businesses. We have made several trips to the town and still haven’t seen everything. It is much a walking town with the outlining streets having the best story
Sunday afternoon, we went on an excursion, traveling 40 miles south of Woodstock on Highway 106 to Chester. The two lane road is very scenic with horse farms and big old family farm houses.
Today we visited Sugarbush Farm. It’s about 10 miles on a remote gravel road outside of Woodstock in the higher elevation. It’s a working maple syrup farm with an onsite market. It was very busy! Who would have thought!
In the afternoon, coming down from Sugarbush Farm we ended up at the Suicide 6 Ski Resort.
Ben and Jerry’s ice cream is near you
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is my favorite. Thanks for the heads-up.
