We enjoyed our visit to San Diego. It was also good to move on. We are now in Temecula which is about 65 miles north of San Diego and east of LA. Temecula is known for it’s valley, the “Southern California Wine Country”. It has a mild climate and often compared to the mediterranean climate. The valley extends east of town for about 15 miles and the wineries are scattered out in all direction. The wineries are comparable to the Napa Valley style with big high dollar buildings, well landscape and eye appealing road art. We did our touring and tasting and we have to say the wines are excellent.
Beside visiting wineries, we took some back roads through the mountains that surrounded the valley. We found out later that the main road we took was an old stagecoach road. That is probably why we could only go 25 mph with all the hair-pin and switchbacks. It was also dangerous, we ran into wild horses, dinosaurs on the loose and a stage-coach high tailing it to safety from outlaws.
We are staying at:
Jojoba Hills Escapee Co-op Resort, Aguanga, CA (17 miles east from downtown Temecula). Jojoba Hills is a private 55+ RV resort for Escapee Members, which we are a member. The park was full but we were able to stay in the “Traveler” sites for $5/night. We are dry camping with no electricity, water, sewer, TV or free internet. Since we are staying here though, we get to use all the facilities at no cost. This is a very nice place.
Love the Dinos!! Dan said he would definitely camp there for $5 haha Love you!
We thought about get one, but they were a little BIG!
Yep, looks like your “roughing it” there… What in the world will you do without RangerWiFi ? 😉
